Meet Jason

Prior to starting his own company, Jason was a Major League Scout for the Seattle Mariners.  With the Mariners, Jason was responsible for evaluating talent at both the major and minor league level for potential trades and free agent acquisitions.  In 2016, Jason was also part of the player selection committee for Team Israel which finished in the top 8 teams in the world at the World Baseball Classic.  Prior to becoming a Mariner, Jason was a Professional Scout for the Houston Astros living in Texas and covering the middle of the country from Texas up to Michigan.  Before moving to Professional Scouting, Jason worked as an Amateur Scout, evaluating high school, college, and junior college players for the draft.  Jason currently works for a Major League Team as a hitting consultant.  

Before his scouting career, Jason served as an assistant coach and recruiting coordinator at Brown University and University of California, Santa Barbara respectively.  From 2007-2009, Jason oversaw all infield and outfield play and was the hitting coach at Brown.  In his three years on the Brown coaching staff, the team set school records in all offensive categories and wins, ultimately leading to their first and only Ivy League title in school history.  At UCSB, Jason was the Recruiting Coordinator along with his other duties of working with the hitters and position players for the 2010 and 2011 seasons.  At both schools, he coached or recruited a total of 29 players who were drafted or signed with Major League teams, two of them ultimately getting to the big leagues. 

 Jason has his Master’s degree in Sports Science with an emphasis in Coaching and Sports Psychology.  In addition to his formal education, he is a NASM Certified Personal Trainer, OnBaseU Baseball certified, and TPI Golf and Power Certified   He did his undergraduate work at Loyola Marymount University where he played 2 years on the baseball team as a middle infielder/outfielder.  Before transferring to LMU, Jason played 2 seasons at Solano Community College where he broke and set the school record for stolen bases.  

Jason is Founder/CEO of JL Athletes, a company he started to help train and advise youth through professional athletes across the country.  His unique background as a Division 1 baseball coach and recruiting coordinator, and Major League Scout, combined with his biomechanical sports science background allows him to train players using the most current information and technologies available at both the collegiate and professional levels.  His vast network of contacts all over the country include current Major League general managers and coaches, scouting directors, cross-checkers, area and professional scouts, and college coaches. 

Meet Isiah

Isiah Daubon comes to JL Athletes as a hitting instructor. He is also an assistant coach at Sacred Heart University. A mainstay in the Pioneers lineup for four years, Daubon appeared in 70 total games and started in 18 as an outfielder. In 2018, Daubon finished the season with .289 batting average, 22 hits and 10 RBI and recording four multi-hit games on the year. Daubon registered a home run for his first collegiate hit on Mar. 6 at Nicholls State and had a season-high seven-game hitting streak from Apr. 13-24. In 2019, Daubon was second on the team in batting average (.317), slugging percentage (.423) and home runs (3) while recording a .920 fielding percentage with 45 putouts on 50 total chances. Daubon had a perfect hitting day once on his career, going 4-for-4 with a double and a walk vs Wagner (4/6) and was named NEC Player of the Week in the last week of March that season.

As the sports world took a gap year for Covid in 2020, Daubon came back for his senior year in 2021. During his senior year Daubon had a few hero ball games, getting 3 game winning hits including a monster 3 run home run against Central Connecticut at Dunkin’ Donuts Park. With the extra year of eligibility the pandemic provided for athletes, Daubon played at NJIT for his Covid senior year while pursuing a Master’s Degree in Business Information Systems.

Daubon’s career stats included a .263 average, scoring 28 runs and belting 41 hits with eight doubles, one triple, four homeruns, 26 RBI 63 total bases with 23 walks and 10 stolen bases while posting a .361 on base percentage.
